The purpose of the County Judge is to preside over the county quorum court without a vote but with the power of veto, to authorize and approve of disbursement of appropriated county funds, to operate the county roads system, to administer ordinances enacted by the quorum court, to hold custody of county property, and to hire county employees, except for the ones that are hired by other elected officials.
